Heart Health Fair
On Saturday, February 25, the Citrus Memorial Heart Center will host a Heart Health Fair as part of an ongoing effort to inform and educate the community about the importance of heart health. The fair, which will include free health screenings for the public will be held from 9am-1pm at Citrus Memorial Healthcare Center at Sugarmill Woods at 7945 S Suncoast Blvd in Homosassa. Free health screenings at the fair will include: • Cholesterol Screening • Glucose Testing • Blood Pressure Screening • Body Mass Index Screening Heart health information and resources will also be available including: • 1 minute CPR training • Smoking cessation information • Nutrition information and healthy snack samples • Stroke information • Support groups • And more! During the fair, physicians and nurses will be on-hand to speak with patrons on heart-related topics including cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, women’s heart disease, and diabetes. Pedometers will be available to attendees while supplies last and all attendees will be entered into a drawing to win prizes. HBO; ALZHEIMER'S PROJECT "MOMENTUM IN SCIENCE"
This program details the current explosion of knowledge within the scientific and medical communities, from imaging the earliest signs of Alzheimer's to understanding the roles that genetics plays, to the tremendous progress being made in the effort to develop drugs to treat or even prevent this disease. CMHS & Public Supermarkets will host a FREE Seminar that takes a look at the truth about blood sugar and how to plan your meals to live a healthier lifestyle. This class will focus on making small changes in your food preparation and menu selections to foster healthier versions of your favorite receipes without losing the taste! Randall Jenkins Memorial Golf TournamentAnother exciting tournament is planned for Monday March 5, 2012, to be held at the beautiful Black Diamond Golf Course in Lecanto.
