Staffed with board-certified physicians and emergency nurses, this 36-bed facility successfully responds to the majority of medical cases in Citrus County. In fact, many medical staff members hold advanced certifications in Trauma Training, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Since 2007, the Emergency Department has played a key role in making Citrus Memorial Health Center the first community-based hospital to partner with EMS to offer the ICE (Induced Cooling by EMS) program, a coordinated effort between our Heart Center and the local EMS. By immediately cooling the body of cardiac arrest patients within minutes of an episode, then slowing raising the temperature at the hospital, the survival rate is increased well above the national average.
Equipped with the latest emergency medical technology, patients receive a rapid, thorough assessment upon arrival. In fact, heart attack patients are evaluated and have an EKG within five minutes of arrival and are quickly integrated into the Citrus Memorial Heart Center.
