The Citrus Memorial Business Office is available to help patients with questions regarding insurance coverage and payment methods for their hospital bills. The staff in the business office commonly answers questions regarding various insurance carriers, charges on patient bills, and advice on financial programs and charity care to pay for needed medical services. Available payment methods include: check; VISA or Discover credit card; and debit cards.


Your health coverage is a contract between you and your insurance company. While we will assist in expediting your claims, you are ultimately responsible for payment of your account.

 


Fees for the professional services of your attending physician, surgeon, radiologist, anesthesiologist or pathologist are not included in your hospital bill. Your will be billed separately for their services.



Financial Counseling Department


Cover Florida:

The State of Florida now offers a low cost health insurance plan called Cover Florida. Premiums can be as low as $150 per month. You can obtain additional information about Cover Florida Online.



Medicaid:
The State of Florida also implements a Medicaid program which is a source of health insurance for low income individuals who meet criteria (age, disabled, dependent children and pregnant women to name a few of the categories of coverage).



Public Assistance Center
Citrus Memorial has partnered with the State of Florida’s Department of Children and Families to open a Public Assistance Center office located at 208 W. Grace Street, on the South end of the Medical Campus to assist Citrus County residents in applying for State financial programs. The office is equipped for applying online for Medicaid,  Food Stamps and TANF (Temporary Aid for Needy Families)

Citrus Memorial Sponsorship Program (Charity):
 Low income patients from Citrus, Sumter, and Levy counties may qualify for this financial assistance program to aid them with their medical health costs at Citrus Memorial.

On January 1, 2009, Florida Statute 395.301 was amended to include language relating to consumer access to healthcare information. The changes require hospitals provide the uninsured persons with information regarding discount and charity policies.
The following information relates to Citrus Memorial Health System’s discount and charity policies for uninsured patients:


I. Discounted charge rate for those patients who are uninsured
A. It is the policy of Citrus Memorial Health System to discount charges by forty percent (40%) for hospital services to all uninsured patients.
B. Citrus Memorial Health System defines an Uninsured Patient as a patient with no healthcare insurance coverage of any type.

II. Charity Care Procedure: (Hospital Sponsorship)
A. It is the policy of Citrus Memorial Health System to evaluate all uninsured patients’ ability to pay and offer charity to those individuals who qualify.

B. Qualifying for charity care under Citrus Memorial Health System’s  procedures involves the following:
1. Guarantors complete a financial statement application which details their income and expenses during the twelve (12) months prior to the hospital visit.


2. The financial statement application is reviewed for completeness. Supporting documentation may be requested from the Guarantor.

3. If the validated financial statement application and supporting documentation reflects an income at or below 200% of the most current Federal Poverty Level (FPL) for the stated family size, the account will be qualified for charity in its entirety.


4. If the validated financial statement application and supporting documentation reflects a household income between 200% and 400% of the most current Federal Poverty Level (FPL) for the stated family size, a sliding scale will be applied and the account will be qualified for partial charity.
