Our Physicians

Dr. Kim is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and is a distinguished Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Cardiology.  He earned his bachelors degree with honors from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. He went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee. He completed his General Surgery Residency at the Medical College Georgia and devoted an additional year to a Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Fellowship with the Hannover Medical School in Hannover, Germany.  He completed his Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery with the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Dr. Kim is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American College of Cardiology, American Medical Association, American Heart Association, Florida Medical Association, Florida Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons, The Society of Thoracic Surgeons and The Southern Thoracic Surgical Association.

Dr. Kim specializes in heart, lung and vascular surgery.  The surgical practice of Citrus-Ocala Heart Institute encompasses coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic valve surgery, mitral valve surgery, surgery for atrial fibrillation, ascending aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endartertectomy, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair with aortic stent graft placement, video-assisted thorascopic surgery, lung biopsy, lung cancer surgery, lung pleurodesis, lung decortication, pacemaker placement, defibrillator (AICD) placement, and biventricular AICD placement.
