In recognition of the Citrus Memorial Heart and Vascular Center and its mission to educate the community on heart health, City of Inverness Mayor Bob Plaisted proclaimed February 2019 as Heart Month.
"Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. It affects men and women of every age and race," said Plaisted. "I encourage citizens to learn more about the risk factors, warning signs and lifesaving emergency response techniques."
Plaisted then lauded the Citrus Memorial Heart and Vascular Center staff and cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon Dr. Peter Kim for their lifesaving, compassionate care.
To prevent heart disease and increase awareness of its effects, the Citrus Memorial Heart and Vascular Center encourages community members to get involved in Heart Month. Throughout the month of February, Citrus Memorial will host educational events for the community as part of an effort to reduce the prevalence of heart disease in Citrus County.
