Inverness, Florida – Citrus Memorial Hospital announced today that it is offering both free and discounted 3D mammograms to uninsured patients in October at its Breast Imaging Center of Excellence in Inverness.
As part of a partnership with the Citrus County Professional Firefighters Local 4562, the first 33 uninsured women to schedule a screening mammogram for October will receive their 3D mammogram free of charge. These mammograms are funded by the fire union’s 2019 Breast Cancer Awareness Month t-shirt sale.
Once the complimentary mammograms are scheduled, uninsured patients will be offered $60 3D mammograms through the month of October.
“While most women in Citrus County have insurance that covers a yearly screening mammogram, there are many who are now struggling without health insurance,” said Citrus Memorial’s Director of Diagnostic Imaging Rocco Cirocco. “Our goal is to ensure everyone has access to the latest technology so we can make a quick diagnosis. Early detection is the key.”
Annual mammograms are recommended beginning at age 40 for average risk patients or earlier based on risk factors.
Screening mammograms can be scheduled by calling (877) 351-7012. The Citrus Memorial Breast Imaging Center of Excellence is located at 131 S. Citrus Ave, Inverness.
