Emergency heart care
During a heart attack, every second counts. Since 2007, the our ER has played a key role in making Citrus Memorial Hospital the first community-based hospital to partner with EMS to offer the ICE (Induced Cooling by EMS) program, a coordinated effort between our Heart & Vascular Center and the local EMS. By immediately cooling the body of cardiac arrest patients within minutes of an episode, then slowly raising the body's temperature at the hospital, the survival rate is increased well above the national average.
Equipped with the latest emergency medical technology, patients receive a rapid, thorough assessment upon arrival at the ER. In fact, heart attack patients are evaluated and have an EKG within five minutes of arrival and are quickly integrated into the Citrus Memorial Hospital’s heart center.
Our heart and vascular center has decades of experience treating patients with serious heart conditions.
