Digital and 3D mammograms
Mammograms are the gold standard for detecting breast cancer in its early stages. Digital mammograms using special X-ray equipment provide images radiologists can manipulate on a computer. The enhanced images allow doctors to more easily target areas which may require more testing.
Additionally, with 3D mammogram technology, your doctors can examine your breast tissue layer by layer. You will also spend less time in compression and have a lower chance of being called back for additional testing.
Guided breast biopsy: stereotactic, ultrasound and radar
To detect abnormalities or cancer, our physicians use guided breast tissue biopsies. Each technique uses a different technology to produce images. Those images enable the physician to precisely locate and target the cells for biopsy. Guided biopsy techniques include:
- Stereotactic, which uses special X-ray equipment
- Ultrasound, which uses high-frequency sound waves
- Radar localization, which uses radar to detect a small reflector placed in the tumor site
